After studying my inspiration from Adolf Gottleib in his Ashes of Phoenix I chose to center my garment around new life formation after death. Out of the ashes represents new growth from the feminine pink of Mother Earth and the purple of royalty.

A rit dyed linen dress with stenciled motifs created following similar contour lines to Gotleib's work and added to the dress. Contrasts of pinks and purple were used to represent monochromatic motifs in the original work. Beading along the bust-lines shows contour and follows the curvature Adolf used. Ashes also means scattered rubbish and remains leading me to the opposite and creating life.
